bio
By today’s standards, being part of the rock scene consists of having many years of experience under your belt. This does hold true for many bands, but there are a few who ignite their spark a little sooner than others.

Action Item, started out as four kids calling themselves Avenge Amber. In the winter of 2004, they officially started playing together. After practicing for a few months and writing their own original music, they decided to head into Clearcut Recording Studio in Garfield, NJ. Within three weeks of releasing their music, they we’re contacted by a company named Jetblack Entertainment (Perfuma- Rb Records, We’re All Broken- Fidelity Records, Flashlight Arcade- KOI Records). The goal of Jetblack was to make the bands who deserved to be heard, known. They signed to Jetblack and things we’re starting to pick up.

After getting to the point of play shows nearly every weekend, they decided it was time to head back into the studio. Fresh ideas were on the minds of the four boys and with the new recordings they started to form a good local fanbase. In late 2005, Jetblack Entertainment took a turn for the worst. It was time for the people in the company to move on to other musical endeavors. The breakup of Jetblack did harm their morale, but it wasn’t enough for them to lose hope. Still playing numerous shows around the NJ area, the band decided it was time for change. In December of 2005, they started auditioning people for the role of lead singer. One person, by the name of Joe Politz, stood out more than anyone else.

With their more aggressive sound and new singer, Avenge Amber thought it was time for a new name. Now known as Action Item, they headed into the studio for the third time with Jayson DeZuzio (Coheed and Cambria, My Chemical Romance, Madison, The Number 12 Looks Like You) to record three new songs. It seemed as if the new songs were an overnight success. Action Item was finally gaining the respect they deserved.

With every band member still fresh and young, Action Item plans to work their way up to the top. "The amount of work and time we put into this is equal to what we’ll get in return, hopefully an amazing response from everyone," explains frontman Joe Politz. It’s not easy to put a finger on the exact genre of Action Item’s music, considering the amount of backgrounds and influences contributed by each member. "Since day one, whenever we came together to write, we just wrote down what we felt, musically and lyrically," says Politz. "Nothing has changed since, except for the fact that we’re getting older and our writing process is much more in-depth now."

Today, Action Item’s steady paced writing process cannot be compared to its peers. "We just take our time, and get what we put into it. There’s no point in trying to rush something and expect it to come out great," guitarist Brian Cag explains. This attitude seems to be working great for the five young men, considering the praises they’ve received from such acts as Cute Is What We Aim For and Dave Melillo. These boys are in it for the long run.
