For nearly six years now A Dead Giveaway has stood strong in the turbulent world of rock and roll. Overcoming constantly changing trends in music has been a major factor in the way that A Dead Giveaway writes and performs their music. Every song that A Dead Giveaway creates has a voice that is unique and powerful with a message to promote behind it. Anything from the loss of good friend to appreciating the lives that we are given can be found in the lyrics of this Kansas City based five piece band. With inspiration stemming from literally every genre of music each member has established a unique style of not only playing their instruments, but also performing live.

Begging in the winter of 2002 Drummer Brandon “Woody” Woodall, and guitarist Bryce Veazey along with a few other close friends began playing simple cover songs together. Practice was often tedious as the young high school students slowly learned the boundaries of their instruments and their abilities to play them. Yet time and determination prevailed to produce the core of what would soon become A Dead Giveaway. Over the course of a few months the addition of bass player Cory Tittle, and singer/guitar player Jesse Collins solidified the original line up of A Dead Giveaway. From the begging a determination to never give up was an unspoken bond that every member shared with the others in the band. As other bands fell apart due to disagreements or opposing views A Dead Giveaway pushed forward. By early 2005 “In Loving Memory”, A Dead Giveaway’s third EP was in the process of being made. Assistant producer Jon Gibbens was present for the majority of the recording and mixing process. Gibbens grew increasingly familiar with the songs and atmosphere that was A Dead Giveaway, providing feedback and suggestions along the way. When the members of the band made the decision to become a five piece in order to explore more complex styles of music, Gibbens was a natural choice due to his prior familiarity with the music. Instantly a new fire was sparked and once again A Dead Giveaway moved forward towards a future that is still unfolding.

Currently A Dead Giveaway is working on what will be their first full length independently released album. With not one member over the age of 20 it’s hard to believe that this group of five young men has already accomplished what most spend decades trying to achieve. Performing well over 200 times in the Midwest region A Dead Giveaway has no plan to slow down anytime soon.
