Based in the small town of McConnellsburg, Central Pennsylvania, Blakkjak (first called Deep Fire) began as a 2 piece band, with Logan Peck on drums and Trent Sowers playing guitar and singing. As the duo gained popularity, they expanded their lineup, adding Hunter Homistek to share lead guitar duties and do backup vocals. Knowing that a bassist was still needed, Trent called up his cousin, Zack DeShong to thump out the low notes. The four piece, just then teens (with Zack being 12 years old) was ready for action. After getting a solid set list of 15 songs (about 12 covers and 3 originals) Deep Fire gained popularity within their town. They realized then that they needed to add more originals to their set, and after writing heavy, crunchy originals, they decided that a name change was in order. Deep Fire then turned into Blitzkrieg, only to rename soon after to "Blakkjak," as you know them today. Blakkjak hopes to liven up the music world with their heavy-hitting, energy filled music, and their modern style. Blakkjak looks to soon record a second demo cd, hopefully cutting 10-12 original songs.
